After the success of the first BioSense Accelerator, realized in 2019 as part of the ANTARES project, the BioSense Institute continues supporting innovative entrepreneurs in developing ideas that will contribute to a digital transformation of agriculture.

The coordinator of the BioSense Accelerator, Stasa Stojkov Rasic, says that this year's program will continue relying on the wide BioSense expertise in digital agriculture and the well tested formula: business, technical and scientific support, intensive workshops and personal mentorship, the BioSense Institute announced.

– Although last year's formula proved to be great, this year we will add another ingredient to it. We have joined forces with a leading European B2B accelerator, Startup Wise Guys, present in three countries of the Baltic. More than 77% of the startups they've supported have continued operating and developing after the program ended. Their years of experience and strategy will help the startups quickly acquire applicable knowledge and skills, gain insight into the market and progress with the help of the best international mentors. This way, the BioSense Accelerator gains a regional character.

A wide network of local mentors and business leaders will also be available to the participants. With their expertise, experience and contacts, they will help startups make their initial ideas sustainable. This year, the BioSense Accelerator is realized with the support of the European Fund for Southeast Europe.

The acceleration program itself will begin this autumn and take three months, and it is meant for startups in the region that are in early development stages and meet the following requirements:

– having an already formed team, a clear idea and an initial business plan;
– developing and and implementing innovations and IT solutions for agriculture and the food sector;
– looking to solve a real problem in the market by upgrading the existing solutions or creating new ones.

The best teams will have an opportunity to take part in the big regional final event (Demo Days), where they will present their ideas in front of an international audience.

Due to the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, in compliance with all the precautionary measures, there's a possibility of the program moving from a physical environment into a virtual one.

Applications for the second generation of the BioSense Accelerator are open until September 15, 2020. To apply, a startup needs to prepare a pitch deck of 10 slides and fill out the form on the official website, which also contains detailed information about the accelerator and the process of application.
