Propter, the first startup form Serbia to receive an investment from Unicef's Innovation Fund, is developing a platform for the creation of virtual reality content for students and teachers. This Serbian company is one of the 11 startups from nine countries which use technology to solve digital challenges that children around the world face.

The products developed by these startups focus on solutions which will help upgrade the options for learning or digital connection, which increase employability.

Nearly four billion people in the world (29% of whom are between 18 and 24) have no access to the internet and consequently, cannot use digital products which can considerably increase their quality of life. The digital gap between the genders is also growing, and the studies show that there are nearly twice as many men online than women. If the situation does not change, a large number of young people will be in danger of losing step and getting excluded from the modern digital world, according to the Unicef Serbia website.

Propter, a startup from Vrsac which has brought together gamers and tech enthusiasts, is developing the ScioXR platform, which enables a simple creation of VR/AR (XR) content aiming to encourage students to learn from experience. The ScioXR platform enables users to make XR content that focuses on STEM education, which the students can consume on easily available devices – primarily smart phones.

The platform is meant for teachers and students alike. The teachers will be able to use the software to make new content in line with the curriculum, which the students can then use. On the other hand, the students will acquire new experiences, while using the content prepared by their teachers, and they will also be able to create content themselves, which everyone can consume.

The project can also be used as additional educational material, which will help students master the knowledge that would be harder to understand with a VR or AR technology.

The next invitation of Unicef's Innovation Fund for startups which develop solutions based on the blockchain technology is also ongoing, and more details can be found at this link.
