European investors show great interest in Typhoon Hill startup

The Novi-Sad based Typhoon Hill Startup entered the regional Power Up! Challenge Grand Final among 14 other European teams presenting the best and most efficient solutions in areas of clean technology, sustainable development and energy efficiency.

The company announcement said that Typhoon Hill has attracted the attention of some of the biggest European investors. The jury named Woola startup from Estonia the Startup of the the year in Europe for their idea for producing packaging material from sheep's wool residues.

Apart from the financial prize of EUR 50.000, the best teams will have a chance to be a part of InnoEnergy business accelerator for supporting SMEs.

Viezo from Lithuania, producing systems that transform mechanical into electrical energy, was second and the third place went to Pocket Virtuality from Czechia for their Fata Morgana glasses for virtually mapping the working area in industrial facilities.

Aleksandar Kavgic from Typhoon Hill said that the competition was a valuable experience that meant a lot to them since they were able to compete with top innovative technological solutions from various European countries.

– We also got the opportunity to connect with the EIT InnoEnergy investment network. We expect to continue this collaboration which will help lift out UEGOS operational system to the next level, Kavgic said.

Despite the current health situation a record number of 360 eligible startups,scallops and SMEs from 20 Central and Eastern Europe countries competed for the main prize and the opportunity for future investments.

Having entered the EIT InnoEnergy business ecosystems, the largest investment network in Europe in the areas of clean technologies, sustainable development and energy efficiency, is Typhoon Hills greatest achievement.

Alexander Arnaut of InnoEnergy Hub Serbia said that Serbian startups participated in the PowerUp! Challenge for the third year in a row and added that it was hard to choose a winner and that the situation was similar to that in the regional finals since there were so many quality and innovative ideas in one place, everyone was a winner in some way.
