The company Aerodromi Srbije is in the phase of the construction of the project-technical documentation for the construction of a new terminal building and the adaptation of the existing one at the Nis Constantine the Great Airport. As the company told eKapija, location requirements have been obtained and they are in the final phase of the preparation of the preliminary project. What is to follow is the obtaining of the building permit and the opening of the tender for the execution of the works.

The project task envisages for all the necessary international standards (IATA LoS) to be secured in handling 1,200,000 passengers annually.

– Considering said standards, our passengers will be provided with eight traditional check-in counters, two counters for the automated handing over of the luggage, as well as four self-check-in counters. Also, departing passengers will be able to use four security control gates, two customs control counters and eight passport control counters – Aerodromi Srbije says.

The new terminal building will also have five aircraft boarding gates, one of which will be equipped with a jet-bridge. Furthermore, a special gate for business and general aviation will be provided as well.

For arriving passengers, eight passport control counters will also be installed, as well as two independent luggage pick-up carousels, as well as a necessary space for customs control.

– For all passengers, the building will be designed so as to meet the criterion of having queuing times not exceed 10 minutes.

Aerodromi Srbije notes that, like other developed airports in Europe, the design also features commercial sections in the new terminal building, which will contribute to increasing the offer of additional services and secure additional income for the airport.

As announced earlier by the director of the PE Aerodromi Srbije, Mihajlo Zdravkovic, the plan includes the construction of a new building of 7,160 m2 and the adaptation of the existing one of 2,100 m2. The works should begin in the summer, and investments of EUR 20 million have been announced.
