Belgrade-based Omni Group to build world's largest stadium - builder of Arena and Madera conquered Russian market

The facts that they had about 100m EUR worth of turnover in 2009 and about 40,000 square meters under construction in Belgrade only were sufficient reasons for the Club of Business Journalists of Serbia to present the award for exceptional contribution to Serbian building industry in 2009 to Omni Group.

The CEO of the company, Veselin Sjekloća, told eKapija that Omni Group, in spite of the economic crisis that maybe hit the building industry the worst, was successfully implementing all the started projects and planned to start realization of new ones in the following period.

- We work much in Russian market. We are present in seven cities in that country and we have signed very big contracts, worth more than 100m EUR, with local investors. Realization of these projects, which can be classified as long-term ones, is slowed down by the crisis a bit, but we will not give them up.

Omni Group has got the job to build the largest stadium in the world - the stadium of FC Zenit, in Saint Petersburg.

Some people would say that, having in mind the structure of Russian investors and their financial superiority over the rest of Europe, it is not so difficult to be engaged in "big projects" in Russia.

But Omni Group also works in Serbia and neighboring countries at the same time.

- We've got the project for construction of the stadium of FC Borac in Banja Luka and I expect to start its realization already in 2011.

The Group is currently engaged in construction of about 40,000 square meters of space in Belgrade, while its employees will also start revitalization and reconstruction of the House of the National Parliament soon.

- Since we already worked on reconstruction of the Parliament and introduced the conference system and refurbished the mechanical installations and air-conditioning system, we hope that the new job will be finished quickly and successfully - Sjekloća told eKapija.

One of the bigger projects of Omni Group in the previous period was construction of shopping center in Belgrade's settlement Dedinje, at the surface of about 6,500 square meters.

The Group operates in 10 countries and has 1,500 employees. Since it was founded, in early 1990's, the Group has built about 2m square meters of business, office and residential space. The Moscow Fair, Russian Theater and the stadium in Saint Petersburg are only some of its works. However, the Group takes the most pride in the participation in reconstruction of Belgrade's Parliament and construction of the largest sports hall in Serbia - popular Arena.

Famous restaurants Madera and Kalemegdanska Terasa are also the works of Omni Group.
