- International real estate exhibition and conference REBEC (RealEstate Belgrade Exhibition & Conference) will be, for the second time, organized in Belgrade between June 22 and 24 - the organizers announced today (May 21st, 2009).

- REBEC will enable full insight in the real estate market in Serbia, as well as connecting of local participants in that business with the leading international experts and investors - Aleksandar Opsenica, the CEO of REBEC, said at the press conference.

According to his words, about 40 lecturers and about 30 exhibitors from the country and abroad are expected to take part in REBEC.

- The exhibition part will comprise four panel discussions -residential development as the most interesting market in Serbia, facility management, retail space, while the fourth panel discussion, which will be held on June 24th, will be dedicated to the retrospective of investments and investment ideas that marked the previous year, and it will be enabled by "eKapija" - said Opsenica.

He also announced some themes from the conference part of REBEC.

- Special focus will be on the hotel industry, which is, definitely, insufficiently developed in Serbia. We will also talk about project management as a missing link in the chain of support to investors, about city planning, financing, public-private partnerships, as well as about office space in Belgrade and legal prospects - the CEO of REBEC announced.

When asked by the press to estimate situation is real estate sector in Serbia, the CEO of company "King Sturge", Srđan Vujičić, said that the prices of real estates in the country would, definitely, drop, but he pointed out that it was almost impossible for anybody to estimate how much they would be decreased.

He added that he did not expect drastic decrease in prices of real estates, but he said that their prices would be affected by the announced introduction of tax on property.

- It can be noticed that the decrease in prices of apartments is larger than it was announced. The prices dropped by 20% or more in certain parts of Belgrade. The prices of office space of A class have been decreased by about 10%, while the prices of office space in trade centers in minor towns in Serbia have dropped by 30 to 40%. The decrease in price of land for industrial-logistic centres is not measureable because the owners are representatives of huge capital and they are not in a hurry to sell that land - said Jovan Jovanović, the CEO of company "Danos".

It was said at the press conference that Serbian market lacked all types of properties, and it was pointed out that Belgrade alone required about 70,000 apartments and one hotel, like "Hyatt" - but on annual basis.
