Minister of Construction, Transport and infrastructure of Serbia Zorana Mihajlovic announced that the law on land register entries should be adopted by March 2018 and said that reforms in the construction sector were impossible without the law.
She told Beta that the citizens would be able to register property in a single procedure, instead of having to wait in several queues.
– This means that, instead of waiting at five counters, the citizens will be provided with a single place,
the public notary's office, and the procedure will be carried out electronically – Mihajlovic said.
She pointed out that all the institutions were ready to start implementing the law.
The aim, as she said, is for Serbia to be among the first 20 or 25 countries on the Doing Business list when it comes to land register entries.
She reminded that Serbia was the tenth country in the world in issuing building permits and added that this would have been unimaginable three years before.
– Regarding building permits, we expect further progress, as we've seen how much can be done in this field by abolishing various fees and contributions paid in the meantime, until the building permit is issued – Mihajlovic emphasized.
