Is Spens in Novi Sad to get a hotel and an aqua park? – Preparation of feasibility study begins

The idea of raising an aqua park and a hotel at the Sports and Recreation Center Vojvodina (Spens) in Novi Sad was initiated a long time ago, and the city administration has taken new steps towards realizing this project.

The preparation of the feasibility study should begin soon, and the public invitation for the company to be put in charge of it has been placed.

Due to ever increasing competition and a variety of shopping malls available, the Spens complex, built in 1981, is slowly losing its importance. In order to keep it attractive and acceptable to a large number of customers, it needs to be imbued with new strength and made unique and special again, says the ad.

– In addition to an outdoor and an indoor pool, the construction of an aqua park would be desirable, thereby rounding up the offer and completing the water sports features. As numerous athletes and sports officials often visit Novi Sad, there’s no better location for raising a hotel than the area next to the indoor pool – the ad says and notes that the initial project of 1979 envisaged the construction of a hotel for athletes, which was not realized due to the lack of money.

Among other things, the feasibility study should analyze the project’s status as it relates to the competition, the location, the target group and the proposal of the hotel’s capacity and category.

It was announced earlier that, in order for the investment to be realized, the General Urban Plan of Novi Sad needed to be amended so that investors could build free of height limitations.
