Đoković family to have tennis center built in New Belgrade - 11m EUR for building lot in "Block 45"

The family of the best Serbian tennis player, Novak Đoković, will most likely have a tennis center built in New Belgrade, on the location west from Dr Ivana Ribara Street. Family company "Family sport" won on the public auction yesterday (March 10, 2008), as the only bidder, for allotment of land for rent in New Belgrade's "Block 45".

The offer of "Family sport" for land in "Block 45" was the only one that was submitted on the open competition announced on February 1st, 2008, probably because one of the terms was that the future renter must submit ATP tour certificate that the project meets the terms of the organization of both categories of tournament.

- We are satisfied and we hope that we will have ATP tournament in Belgrade already next year - said Goran Đoković, uncle of our best tennis player and the CEO of company "Family sport", adding that his brother and cousin have not given up intention to have the tennis center built in Kragujevac. That city has recently appeared as an option, because the Belgrade authorities refused to allot the land to the Đoković family without announcing tender.

Company "Family sport" is obliged to sign contract with the Directorate for City Building Land on compensation for organization of land within 30 days from the moment the Mayor approves rental of the land.

The Đoković family bought the lot, which consists of two parcels, at starting price of 432m RSD, in addition to 499m RSD worth of compensation for organization of the remaining building land. "Family sport" will pay somewhat over 11m EUR for the lot in New Belgrade. Depending on the agreement with the Directorate, they will either pay the whole amount at once and get 30% discount or pay the price in installments over the maximum period of three years.
