The enterprise Alti Logistika was founded at the beginning of 2016 and is a part of the company Alti, one of the leading distributors and manufacturers of computers, consumer goods and communication technologies.

As Alti Ltd owns a rolling stock of 60 goods vehicles and 2 warehouses in Cacak and Belgrade, the time has come for the idea to come to fruition of founding a company which will contribute to the improvement of the existing logistics processes and provide services to third parties, says Nikola Jevtic, Managing Director of Alti Logistika for eKapija.

- Alti Logistika started working on January 4, 2016. We had five employees initially and were fully operational from the start. We then formed the customs department and the sales department. There are ten of us now and we are planning further employments. Our team is made up of young, ambitious, promising and highly educated people, mostly graduates of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering and colleagues with many years of experience in foreign and local logistics companies. Last but not least, there are seniors in this business, highly experienced experts for foreign trade and customs formalities. I believe we have created an ideal combination of youth and experience.

In his interview for our portal, Nikola Jevtic also talks about the services they provide, the young company's plans and the logistics market in Serbia and the region.

eKapija: Alti is one of the leading distributors and manufacturers of computers, consumer goods and communication technologies. In addition to your founding company, you offer services to other companies as well. Which services are these?

- We offer and organize complete logistics solutions: international transport services, customs clearance, short-term and long-term storage, distribution, insurance of goods... We are of course also available for any type of consulting.

eKapija: What do you specialize in? What makes you stand out among the competition?

- The focus of our activities is road transport throughout the Eastern and Western Europe and the former Soviet states, states of the region and Turkey. Our rolling stock is made up of vehicles of the load carrying capacities from 1,200 to 24,000 kg. Thanks to our contacts of many years with foreign and local subcontractors, we are capable of organizing transport with competitive prices and the shortest delivery deadlines.

There's a lot of competition in our field of work and everybody offers similar solutions, which is why I think companies should stand out by the quality of the services offered. Our priorities are timely responses, thoroughness and dedication to each transport delivery or customs procedure, constant care for our clients. There are always problems in this line of work, it's par for the course. In such cases, it is crucial to be flexible and tolerant, to project possible new scenarios, to create new solutions as you go along and then present them to your clients in a timely fashion, all the while taking care, of course, of their deadlines and the importance of deliveries. Our approach, which we have had from the very beginning, means that we treat our clients as partners.

eKapija: How many transport tours have you organized so far, how many deliveries have been made?

- We have transported 16,777 tons of goods so far and organized several hundred customs procedures. We started building the Alti Logistics clients portfolio with local micro, small, medium and large enterprises. We already have now an “organic” portfolio, a healthy foundation. These are our regular clients and payees. All these companies import goods, which they later use for sales, presentations, production facilities etc. Through our interest in their field of work, the particular aspects of their activities, we manage to see what they needs are and the way the importers think. Through the service we offer and carry out we justify the quality of our service. From there, everything else falls into place, we agree with our clients on long-term cooperation and joint development of further operations. Considering that our senior management is made up of managers who possess experience of many years in organizing complex logistics processes, we are now ready, after operating for five months, for more complex tenders and contractual logistics operations.

eKapija: Which industry are you the most active in? Where are you planning to expand?

(Photo: s_oleg/shutterstock.com)
- We are present in nearly all industries, our clients mostly come from these industries: automotive, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, metallurgy, machines, tools and industrial equipment, electrical appliances, photo-optics, measuring equipment and instruments, textile and clothing, rubber and plastic. We are planning to expand to all industries. As Serbia's biggest merchandise trade is now with Germany and Italy, we will dedicate ourselves to expanding our capacities there first.

eKapija: Alti owns two logistics centers and a rolling stock. You have announced new investments. What will they be?

- We plan to start building, as soon as possible, a logistics center and to acquire a rolling stock, in order to be able to provide, though our infrastructure and the network of vehicles, the most quality service possible to our clients. The focus is on a truck terminal which will contain storage space, offices and a parking lot.

eKapija: What is your opinion on the logistics market in Serbia and the region?

- There's a lot of competition in our line of work, not just locally, but in all countries of Europe and the world. The market has crystallized in developed economies over the years – smaller private transporters work for bigger systems or brokers, and brokers work for legal entities (corporations, factories...). In the USA and Germany, everyone's busy, everyone's making profit and developing. Each within their own capacities, of course. Here, the concepts of loyal and disloyal competition are something that needs to be discussed. In any case, there will always be work for those who have clear strategies and goals and are prepared to give their 110% to make it happen.

eKapija: How will the market be developing in the coming period? Do you expect any changes to take place?

- The geo-strategic position of our country is dependent on the political situation and world events. Serbia needs an accelerated development of the infrastructure and transport system, which is a prerequisite for the economic development, which later enables the development of logistics.

There will always be new technologies, but sometimes we only recognize, adopt and implement them with some delay. It is necessary to realize that quick changes and new discoveries are part of everyday life in the developed countries of the world. We can only give our best to accept, adopt and implement new trends.
