TV show “Head through the wall”, which has been broadcasted since January at the first channel of Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), is something completely different from anything he has done so far.

Srdjan Jovanovic, a young actor and the first Serbian stand-up comedian, practically this way managed to win another medium for stand-up comedy and to bring it, after clubs and theater halls to "small screen", in a slightly different form. It is also his attempt to promote this type of art and to make a "breakthrough of stand up in the mainstream."

- For almost two years, I worked on this show, from creating and writing materials to implementation and broadcasting. Together with Filip Colovic, top director with whom I worked a lot, I made a serious and demanding show which was met with great reactions, a positive response and viewership but I believe that it will come even more to life through re-runs that have already been announced - Jovanovic said for eKapija .

12 half-hour episodes were made, 11 of which on RTS already and all have been already posted at YouTube . More than 60 actors participates in the show and it was shot at 450 locations all around former Yugoslavia.

Acting start at Atelier 212

Srdjan Jovanovic was born in 1979, and joined the world of acting in 1997. After 16, he enrolled BK Academy and was the first generation of graduates of the acting school and he joined Belgrade Atelier 212. He played his first role in "The Three-penny Opera " directed by Nikita Milivojevic , then starred in a few pieces of this iconic theater .

The first Serbian stand-up comedian

Then, Srdjan firstly became interested in stand-up comedy as a specific form of theater. He stepped into this genre in 2009 when he received a call from Slovenian producer Slavko Skvorc to perform at the "Lent" festival in Maribor.

He accepted the challenge, wrote material and went to festival in Maribor . Later, he played " Group Therapy" in Slovenia as much as 60 times.

Live performance or TV shows

As for the stand-up scene in Serbia, Srdjan Jovanovic said there are not many stand-up comedians, and among those who regularly perform, there are several quality ones. He believes this is not a genre where hyper production could be expected because it takes a lot of work but also talent, and sees himself as a solo player who appreciates and respects his colleagues.

He also outlines that not every place is suitable for performing stand-up comedy because it is a "really superb art – you write alone, perform alone and you are alone an editor in chief for yourself."

He considers writing, drawing inspiration "from the universe" as the most difficult part.

From cartoons to radio dramas

After the launch of "Head through the wall" people started recognizing him on the street but it somehow coincided with the current TV commercial which was filmed for a bank. Srdjan already has a lot of recorded television and radio commercials and his great love is radio drama as well as synchronization of cartoons.
