Unique "Wine village Malca"hosted its first guests and as of mid-October 2014, it will open for individual visit. Touring four completely different kinds of wine growing,tourist can feel the spirit of four ages and enjoy typical wines.

The idea of the owners of Malca wine cellar, Jelena and Bora Jovic, who also own Vinarija Status in Svrljig, was to take guests on a unique “wine travel through time “and to show them the crossroads of roads of wine which intervened here. They renovated the old cellar in Malca and made unique tourist and wineoasis.

Nis-based "wine empire" extends on some two hectares, between the Malcinska reka and the Nis-Svrljig road. Tourists can visit four wine houses, a cellar more than 110 years old with numerous mines, they can walk along the maintained paths, see a small lake and an outdoor stage - "Rimski forum". There is also a mini ethnographic museum.

In the second stage of works, in two years, a wine hotel with a swimming pool will be built and they are also planning tourist facilities in the vineyard of Malca, the owners say for eKapija.

Vineyards are near the cellar, on 50ha, on 510 m above the sea level. They are certified as organic plantations.

Timeline

Wine timeline in Malca starts with tasting in the Roman house. Guests can enjoy unusual organic wine from amphora, the one the Emperor Constantin theGreat used to drink. The wines of the Roman house are called "Emperor Constantin" and "Empress Jelena". The house occupies 400 square meters and it is designed so that it reflects with its architecture the age of the Roman Empire.


Then, there is the House of Nemanjic where theh wine is grown in large, wooden, the Nemanjica house follows where wine sare kept in big, wooden " barrels, as in the times of the famous Serbian dynasty.The wine of this house is rose called "Zone".

Timeline travel continues with the "Serbian wine house" from XX century,where guests taste wines from concrete tanks - "Naisa" (Italian Riesling)and "Sauvignon".

Travel through wine timeline ends in the Modern wine house, where organicgrapes drink is made in "inox" tanks.


Malca has a conference hall wheremeetings or group education can be hold.

Amphora just like from the Roman age

The Roman house attracts special visitors ‘attention and its famous wine from amphora, unique in Serbia. In the Malca cellar, eight amphora with wines were dug in – four with white called "Carica Jelena" (Italian Riesling) and four with red called "Car Konstantin" (cabernet and merlot).



Amphora is the oldest wine dish used since 3.000 anno B.C.


- The best clay for amphora is from Georgia. Ours have also been procured in that country, and each one has a capacity of nearly 2.000 l – the hosts for Malca say for eKapija

Due to limited quantities, purchase of wines is possible only in the basement and in a small number of wine houses in Belgrade.

Different groups of visitors have visited Malca so far from Serbia, Greece,Italy, USA, France and Netherlands, etc. Diverse cultural events are also organized.
