With the construction of new rail, Cuprija stays at side gage
After 130 years of existence, the Belgrade-Nis railroad, become side gage at the Corrdior 10 with the construction of Gilje-Paracin railroad.
- With the completion of the two-gage railroad, Gilje - Paracin,only local trains and trains
for the needs of Cuprija trade will enter the Cuprija station – a responsible
contractor on the two-gage railroad, Zeljko R. Markovic, said for Tanjug.
All the international transport traffic will operate via newly built Jagodina-Gilje-Paraćin railroad which does not go to Cuprija, Markovic pointed out and added that Cuprija will be connected with Paracin with “separate, the third lane”.
The two-gage Gilje – Paracin railroad is designed for trains which develop speeds of 160,2 km/hour and it was planned to be finished November 18. The Italian Italiana costruzioni CAF builds it with the EIB loan. The investor is PC Zeleznice Srbije (Serbian Railways).The project comprises reconstruction of the station in Celije.
