"Delta" invests 20m EUR in revitalization of pig farms

Company "Delta agrar" starts big project for revitalization of pig breeding. The new nucleus farm will be built and five pig farms within "Delta agrar" will be rehabilitated.

- The revitalization of pig farms implies bringing of top genetic material and technology from Denmark, which is one of the best as far as production of pigs are concerned. Total investment amounts to about 20m EUR. After the completion of the project, the capacity of production will be about 170,000 fattened pigs on annual basis - says Ivan Spasić, General Manager of "Delta agrar".

He explains that the first phase will include reconstruction of the existing farm and the construction of a new nucleus farm and the centre for artificial insemination on farm "Napredak" in Stara Pazova. About 8m EUR will be invested and the completion of the works is expected at the end of 2007.
