On August 4, the Assembly of Serbia acknowledged the resignation of Dusan Vujovic to the position of the minister of economy and the Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, now has a deadline of 15 days to suggest new candidate for the minister of economy. Deadline expires August 19.

The Law on government defines that the Prime Minister is obliged to suggest selection of new minister to the National Assembly in 15 days time since the mandate of the previous minister expires and the new minister should be elected through majority of votes out of the total number of parliament members. The Law on government does not define deadline within which the assembly should elect a new minister.

Vujovic resigned because of being elected at the function of the minister of finance since the previous minister of finance, Lazar Krstic, resigned July 12 which the Assembly acknowledged three days later.

However, Vujovic will perform duties of the minister of economy until the selection of a new one and he is not the first in the Government of Serbia who will carry out both duties of the minister of finance and minister of economy.

In the government of the Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, Mladjan Dinkic was in charge of these resources and Bozidar Djelic in 2003 also had finance and economy resources merged.
