Bankers earned EUR 70 million in first quarter of 2014 – Decrease in 25%

Banking sector gained profit of RSD 8.1 billion (EUR 70 million) in the first quarter of 2014, reports National Bank of Serbia.

As it is quoted, profit of banking sector is by 25% less than in the same period last year.

According to NBS report, in the first quarter of 2014, about 19 banks out of 39 in the Serbian market, have operated with profit of RSD 9.3 billion, while 10 of them had a loss of RSD 1.2 billion.

On the top of the list is Intesa bank with profit of RSD 2 billion, then Raiffeisenbank (RSD 1.9 billion), UniCredit (RSD 1.6 billion), Commercial bank (RSD 1.2 billion) and Eurobank with RSD 573 million.

Top five with the biggest loss are NLB bank (RSD 370 million), Serbian bank (RSD 246 million), Piraeus bank (RSD 243 million), Marfin bank (RSD 182 million) and KBC bank with RSD 71 million loss.

Total net assets of banking sector at the end of March 2014 amounted RSD 2,842 billion and the total capital RSD 604 billion.
