Low cost airline Germanwings leaves Belgrade
As B92 finds out, the Germanwings airline will fly to Belgrade only till the end of the summer flight schedule which means it is leaving the Nikola Tesla airport.
Namely, Germanwings is cancelling the Stuttgart –Belgrade flight with the beginning of the winter season in late October and that will mean they are leaving the Nikola Tesla airport since the Köln to Belgrade flight was cancelled two years ago.
The flight to be cancelled as of October flies three times a week at the moment by A319 with 144 or 150 seats and apart from direct connection of Belgrade with Stuttgart, it enables passengers from Serbia more convenient connections towards numerous German and West European cities at low cost prices.
The last flight of the company is due October 23 and after that, passengers will be able to fly to Stuttgart only with Serbian national airline, Air Serbia, which has had that flight for decades.
Germanwings is another low cost airline which has lately cancelled flights from Belgrade. As of this summer, Norwegian cancelled seasonal flight to Copenhagen while Wizz Air withdrew its two flights from Belgrade and cancelled lines towards Oslo and Brussels (Charleroi airport), while it significantly reduced the number of other flights.
On the other hand, the airport in Belgrade is getting new low cost companies and destinations so Spanish Vueling will soon open the flight to Barcelona while easyJet is starting with the flights to Rome. Despite reduction, Wizz Air succeeded in introducing new flight towards Larnaca which even is available over the entire year.
Germanwings is a low cost airline which is owned by the German, national airline, Lufthansa. The company has started transformation early this year.
