License for second mobile operator in Kosmet still goes to Slovenian "Telekom"
The
Kosovo Telecommunication Administration (KAT) has decided to assign the second
license for the mobile telephony in Kosovo to the second-ranked consortium that
consists of "Telekom Slovenia"
and Kosovo’s "Ipko net".
According to the announcement of KAT, this consortium, the second-ranked on the
tender, will obtain the license because the winner, consortium Kosmocell, has not
paid the fee of 81m EUR for the license in the budget prior to the legally binded
deadline.
It is pointed out that Kosmocell, because of that, lost its right to license, while the consortium made of Telekom Slovenia and Kosovo’s Ipko net, in which Slovenian company owns 75% of assets, has the deadline of two weeks, prior to March 6, to pay 75m EUR for the license.
Austrian "Mobilkom" and company "Tim Kosovo" also participated in the repeated tender for the allotment of the second mobile telephony license in Kosovo, while two more offers were disqualified because they were submitted after the deadline.
