Jablanica EKO pellet plant opened in Medvedja - Jobs for 50 workers
Medvedja has got a pellet plant called Jablanica EKO where 50 people have already got a job. The construction of this factory was financed by the Medvedja municipality and the Serbian government with EUR 670,000, the Slovenian government with EUR 290,000, while another EUR 100,000 were provided through the EU Progress programme.
Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, who opened the factory, pointed out that it was of special importance that the factory was opened in a multi-national community, from which people had been moving out in the last few decades.
- The main problem that everybody's facing in this area, regardless of whether you are Serbs, Albanians or Roma people, is the economic situation and unemployment - said Dacic.
According to him, the projects like this one are extremely important because they return workers to production facilities with good prospects for further expansion.
- What you're going to produce here is, of course, very competitive in the market at this moment - he added.
Dacic assessed that the opening of this factory was a signal to investors to invest in Medvedja.
Slovenian Ambassador to Serbia Franc But stated that the donation had come from the people of Slovenia, adding that he expected more Slovenian companies to invest in the Medvedja area within the next year.
Every hour the factory will produce a ton of pellets for heating and the entire output will be sold locally and on the markets of Italy, Greece and Slovenia.
The raw material, wood pulp, for the production of pellets will be supplied from the territory of Medvedja, 65% of which is covered in forests.
