Record export in 2013 – Fiat cars top Serbia's export list, oil tops import list

The Minister of internal trade and telecommunications, Rasim Ljajic, said on Sunday, January 5, that it was a record year when it comes to exports as well as foreign trade deficit decrease.

He said for RTV Pink that foreign companies contributed the most to exports increase and that out of 15 biggest exporters, 13 are foreign companies which came to Serbia.

According to the ministry in charge, 58% of exports go to EU countries, some 30% to countries which signed CEFTA agreement, 7-10% to the Russian Federation and the rest goes to other countries.

Ljajic said record export of cars as well as wheat was generated last year and that this year, maize is expected to be export product with the biggest potential.

He said that corns make the biggest export potential of Serbia as well as IT industry which also has a potential to increase exports this year.

What numbers say

According to the latest data of the Republic Statistical Bureau, total foreign exchange of goods of the Republic of Serbia for the January- November 2013 period totals: USD 32.017,9 mil (increase of 16,8% compared to the same period last year) or EUR 24.167,7 mil (an increase of 13,1% compared to the same period last year).

Exported value of goods totaled USD 13.386 mil, which is an increase of 30,6% compared to the same period last year and imported value totals USD 18.631,9 mil USD, which is an increase of 8,5% compared to the same period last year.

Export of goods in totals EUR 10.100,3 mil which is an increase of 26,4% compared to the same period last year. Import of goods in totals EUR 14.067,4 mil, which is an increase of 5,2% compared to the same period last year.

Deficit totals USD 5.245,9 mil which is a fall of 24,2% compared to the same period last year. Deficit totals EUR 3967,1 mil, which is a fall of 26,3% compared to the same period last year.

Coverage of import with export totals 71,9% and is higher than the coverage in the same period last year when it totaled 58,6%.

Sumadija and West Serbia generate highest exports and Belgrade makes the highest import

Taking into account the regional aspect, the biggest exports in Serbia were generated in Sumadija and West Serbia (33, 2%); the Vojvodina region (32,5%); the Belgrade region (21,3%), South and East Serbia region (12,7%), and some 0,3% of exports is not distributed in territories.

Taking into account the regional aspect, the biggest import in Serbia were generated in the Belgrade region (41, 9%); the Vojvodina region (28, 9%), Sumadija and West Serbia (20,2%), South and East Serbia region (7,9%), and some 1,1% of imports is not distributed in territories. There are no data for Kosovo and Metohija.

Partners

The main foreign trade partners when it comes to export were: Italy (USD 2.177,8 mil), Germany (USD 1609,9 mil), Bosnia and Herzegovina (USD 1073,0 mil), the Russian Federation (USD 979,4 mil) and Montenegro (USD 769,5 mil).

The main foreign trade partners when it comes to import were Italy (USD 2.168,4 mil), Germany (USD 2.054,3 mil), the Russian Federation (USD 1599,7 mil), China (USD 1.370,2 mil) and Hungary (USD 927,6 mil) .

Foreign exchange of goods was the highest with the countries with which we have signed agreements on free trade. EU countries make 62, 6 % of total exchange.

Our second most important export partner are the countries which signed CEFTA agreement with which we have an exchange suffice of USD 1.570,6 mil and which mostly resulted from agricultural products export as well as of various finished products. As for the imports, iron and steel, electricity, fruit and vegetables are the most imported products. The export of Serbia for the given period totals USD 2476, 8 mil USD and imports USD 906,2 mi.

Car export generates highest profit

Top ten exported products shows that our first exported product is diesel cars over 1500 bit also below 2500 cm3 (USD 60 mil);

Oil import was the biggest

Top ten imported products list shows that raw oil was our first import product (USD 197 mil). The second place went to motor vehicles tools and spare parts with USD 127 mil and natural gas with USD 79 mil is on the third place.


15 biggest exporters in the period January - October 2013

According to last data of the Ministry of Finance which include January-November priod, Kragujevac-based Fiat automobili Srbije company (FAS) exported cars totaling EUR 1, 282 billion which brings it to the first place of the biggest Serbian exporters list.

The Oil Industry of Serbia takes the second place (EUR 230,9 mil), then Pirot-based Tigar tyres (EUR 203,4 mil), HIP Petrohemija Pancevo (EUR 189,9 mil), Vrsac-based Hemofarm ( EUR 130,6 mil), Valjevo and Stara Pazova-based Gorenje (EUR 123 mil).

Backa Palanka-based Tarkett with EUR 116,8 mil and Zelezara Smederevo with EUR 105,1 mil are also listed among the biggest exporters whose exports exceed more tan EUR 100 mil.

The list of 15 biggest exporters include Raca-based Yura, Belosevac-based Valy, Bor-based RTB Invest, Belgrade-based Ball packaging Europa, Sevojno-based Impol seval, Sremska Mitrovica-based Sirmium steel and Belgrade-based Tetra pak production.
