Telenor will start offering mobile banking services on the Serbian market in the second half of 2014, according to the announcement by the Telenor's Director in Serbia, Ove Fredheim.
He stated to BETA agency that at the beginning, they will offer only basic banking services to the clients, and later it is in plan to allow approval of micro credits.
- Telenor's ambition is to offer to its clients a bank account with attractive interest rates on dinar deposits and to use it as a platform for paying the bills and executing transactions from the mobile phone, said Fredheim.
He added that currently they are developing an application through which these transactions would be done on the mobile phone.
Fredheim reminded that Telenor singed in April a contract for taking over KBC bank in Serbia and the ownership over the bank was finalized at the end of December 2013.
He pointed out that entering the banking world will open new job positions in Telenor in Serbia.
-There is a team of 15 people in Telenor Serbia operating on financial services, and with the ownership of the bank we tend to hire around 100 people for client services, said Fredheim, precising that 60-70 people will be working at the central office, and 30-40 people will be hired in branch offices.

This will be the start, said CEO of Telenor Serbia, and in a long run the number of employees will be increased.
Fredheim also said that due to regulations in Serbia it would not be possible to open a bank account without coming to one of the offices, and after that most of the services will be possible through the mobile phone.
Telenor already has experience in banking in Asia, and the model in Serbia represents full banking services for clients through their mobile phones.
-This will be a test, we are operating in Serbia while many of our sister companies in Europe will pay close attention to the coming results, said Fredheim.
