Serbia to start importing sugar soon?

Serbia, once a large exporter of sugar, may become a sugar importer, and so could all other countries in Europe if they fail to improve sugar beet production and make it as cost-effective as sugar cane production.
A "big challenge" is, of course, an euphemism for problems that may occur in 2017 when the European Union is set to stop paying the guaranteed prices of sugar and subsidies for sugar beet production to farmers.
