Telekom not to go public after all?

The plan of the Economy Ministry to sell Telekom Srbija through initial issue of shares on the stock exchange cannot be backed by the Serbian government, the Government confirmed to the daily Blic yesterday.

Although Adviser to the Economy Minister Aleksandar Stevanovic announced the possibility of Telekom Srbija goin public maybe even by the year's end, people at the Serbian government told Blic that the state planned to sell its majority stake in the national telecom firm, but they didn't want to do that before the time was right.

In that case, the new owner would also purchase all the shares currently held by citizens as well as the shares of former and current workers of Telekom.
