As of next month, Montenegro Airlines will not be operating Nis-Podgorica flights any more, which will leave Nis without its airline connection with the world.

Mayor Zoran Perisic said that there was no money in the city budget to subsidize Montenegro Airlines' flights.

He stressed that he was aware of the importance of Konstantin Veliki Airport for Nis and the entire south of Serbia, but he added that they also needed to pay attention to other things relevant to the normal functioning of the city, given the reduced budget revenues.

Perisic noted that there was still hope for the Nis airport.

- I've negotiated with the management of Air Serbia on the establishment of an air bridge between Nis and Belgrade. I will also speak with Hungary's low-cost carrier Wizz Air about the establishment of regular service from the airport in Nis - said Perisic.
