Don't buy staff on beaches in Greece, fines up to EUR 300
If you are going to Greece on a summer vacation, you may be fined EUR 300 for buying stuff from numerous beach salesmen, Nase Novine writes.
A couple of Serbian tourists told this newspaper that they had narrowly avoided paying a draconian fine in Paralia, adding that almost no one from our country knew anything about that. They said that the police had decided not to fine them as "it was clear that they were completely unaware of new regulations" when they had bought a dress from an illegal salesman.
Since the beginning of this tourist season, the Pireaus Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Hotel Keepers have been handing out flyers that read: "We are to inform you that illegal purchases from traveling salesmen are against the law. The buyers of such products will be charged with criminal offense and fined." This information is available in seven languages.
