Austrian construction concern Porr made an offer last week for few sister companies of the bankrupted construction firm Alpine that was hired to implement several projects in Serbia, among other things.

Alpine won a tender to build a bridge in Beska, a railway bridge across the Velika Morava River, the Pirot-Dimitrovgrad highway, and a bypass around Dimitrovgrad.

Porr CEO Karl-Heinz Strauss said in an interview to the Vienna weekly magazine Format that they had made an offer for the Alpine's company engaged in the construction of railway tracks, Universale.

- We will also make an offer for asphalt plants and quarries - he announced

As he added, Porr strives to get rid of all debts in maximum three years.

Strauss noted that the net debt in the current business year would be lowered to less than EUR 500 million through improved results and property sales.
