Energy Globe prizes awarded for environmental efficiency in Serbia

The Business department of the Austrian Embassy held a meeting of Austrian businessmen, Austrian Business Circle, in the Metropol hotel. This traditional meeting, of a closed type, promotes better connection of Austrian investors with Serbia, legal framework, options and challenges they face in this business.

The Commission of Environmental Awards, www.energyglobe.net , which monitors and awards projects with high environmental efficiency rate, noticed the importance of this meeting. The Trade department of the Austrian Embassy was entrusted to deliver a prize and the prize went to Serbian VEA-INVI Ltd. Beograd in cooperation with Herceg-Novi-based Ausra Ltd for environmental settlement Zagora in Montenegro.

Business consultant of the Austrian Embassy, Andreas Haidenthaler, addressed businessmen, pointing out that “Austria, with EUR 2, 9 billion is still the leading investor in Serbia”.

- Over 450 Austrian companies is present at Serbian market like branch offices or companies and they contribute to increase of foreign exchange between Austria and Serbia so we are honored to deliver this prize.”

This year’s winner shows holistic approach of designing buildings which could move without eny emissions: buildings would use only solar energy, energy of wind and they would use biomass for heating anf preparation of hot water and air-conditioning systems. A desalinization device using sea water as well as heating pumps driven by sea water, guarantee perfect balance of production and energy consumption. A prototype of a building for the 21st century!

The ceremony was held with the support of the Austrian company Greiner Holding AG headquartered in Kremsmünster. The company comprises four operational units: Greiner Packaging International, Greiner Foam International, Greiner Technology & Innovation, Greiner Tool.Tec and Greiner Bio-One International AG. The company is one of the leading producers of foams and sponges as well as synthetic materials for industry of furniture, sports, car industry, medical and medicine industry as well as one of the leading producers of tools for extrusion and facility building machines. It is also successful in renewable sources distribution field.
