France's Alstom Renewable Power has inked a deal worth over €1bn with Brazil's Renova Energia to supply, operate and maintain around 440 onshore wind turbines in Brazil.

The turbines, each with between 2.7MW and 3MW capacity, will represent at least 1,200MW new wind power generation capacity in the country, Alstom said.

Alstom will power Renova Energia's wind projects in the state of Bahia with its turbines, which are expected to be delivered from 2015 onwards over three to four years.

- The partnership with Renova Energia is exclusive, and we will closely follow up on the progress. As the most important agreement for Alstom in the wind onshore industry worldwide, this preliminary agreement confirms our strong global ambitions in the wind industry - says Jérôme Pécresse, president of Alstom Renewable Power.
