Republic of Srpska Railways (ZRS) signed a EUR 10 million agreement on 27 December 2012 in Doboj with companies Tetravagonka Bratstvo from Subotica and Gosa from Smederevska Palanka on the procurement, reconstruction and repair of freight cars, Srna news agency reports.

This agreement is extremely important for the restoration of the freight rolling stock of Srpska Railways and involves the procurement of 37 new freight cars, reconstruction of 50 cars and the repair and modernization of 195 freight cars, said people at ZRS.

Upon the implementation of this project, ZRS will have the fleet of 282 cars, which will partially satisfy the needs of the economy sector.

ZRS said in a release that the funds for that project had been secured through a loan agreement signed between the governments of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, adding that that was Serbia's first loan to Srpska Railways.
