Serbia and Hungary signed Memorandum on promotion of economic cooperation, Economy Office of Hungarian Embassy to Belgrade put into operation
The State Secretary of the Ministry International Economic Relations of Serbia, Vlatko Sekulović, and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Transportation of Hungary, Đerđ Gilijan, signed the Memorandum on cooperation and intensification of bilateral economic relations of the two countries on May 9, 2006.
Soon afterwards, Gilijan and Hungarian ambassador to SCG, Pap Šandor, opened the Economy Office of that Embassy in 13/3 Braničevska Street on Vračar. In the future, that Office will, according to their words, have very important role in the development of economic cooperation between Serbia and Hungary. According to the announcements, the Head of the Office will be Bako Tamaš.
Pointing to the primary goals of the signed agreement, Gilijan underlined that the key role of that document would intensification of foreign trade exchange and increase in investments in field of infrastructure, as well as joing appearance of Serbia and Hungarian companies on the "third" markets.
On that occasion, it was stated that the Hungarian companies already had some concrete proposals for cooperation, whereas Vlatko Sekulović pointed out that the next step in the realization of the signed agreement would be forming of the expert commission that would work on the elaboration of the development programmes and he added that, due to huge interest of businessmen, it would be nice to establish direct flights Belgrade-Budapest.
