Mercator granted permission to take over Familija Marketi
The Serbian Commission for Protection of Competition has granted a permission to the market chain Mercator-S to lease the facilities of Robne Kuce Beograd (Beograd Department Stores) that are currently occupied by the market chain Familija Marketi, the company announced today.
By renting 27 facilities in Belgrade, Vojvodina, central and south Serbia, spanning a total of 22,000 square meters, Mercator-S also takes over stocks, equipment and 300 employees of Familija Marketi.
In this way, Mercator-S has strengthened its position of the second largest trade company in the Serbian market and expanded the network of retail facilities to some new cities, such as Zajecar, Valjevo, Vranje, Pirot, Uzice, Bajina Basta, Bor and Knjazevac, reads the release.
As announced earlier by Mercator Group, Mercator-S will end the year 2011 as planned, with about 50,000 square meters of new office space and approximately 700 new workers in Serbia.
