Italy's Leonardo employs another 20 workers at footwear factory in Subotica
The Italian footwear manufacturer Leonardo has employed another 20 people at its factory in Subotica, thus increasing the number of workers to 155. A total of 18 unemployed persons got a job through the Local Employment Action Plan, whereas two persons were hired as people with a disability.
Employment contracts were signed by Subotica Mayor Sasa Vucinic, Leonardo's owner Antonio Brotini, and Director of the Subotica office of the National Employment Agency Zlatko Paunic.
The factory that operates in Subotica since 2003 now has a total of 155 employees who are qualified, motivated and ready for cooperation, said Antonio Brotini.
Leonardo mainly exports its products, and its largest markets are Russia, China and Italy, Brotini stated and added that the company was about to enter the market in Vietnam as well.
After the employment of new workers, as he explained, the production is planned to grow from 350 to 420 shoe tops and from 150 to 200 pairs of ready-made shoes. He also stressed that the company's annual production was worth up to EUR 2 million and that their shoes in stores worldwide cost between 250 and 500 euros a pair.
