The Slovenian Steklarna Hrastnik, which has taken over the Serbian Glass Factory in Paracin through its owner, the Swiss-Slovenian consortium Global Glass, will transform this factory like the glass factory from Slovenia, using the way of green energy, and it will invest more than EUR 300 million in the next six years in the construction of new furnaces., it is said on the website of the Government of Serbia.

As Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic emphasized while visiting the factory, as of January 1, all employees will be transferred to the Serbian Glass Factory company, and the recovery of the Serbian Glass Factory was an important issue for the Serbian government since until now we have imported all glass and glass packaging, she added.

She voiced hope that there will be an additional increase in wages, as well as an increase in the number of employees to some 700, 750 people, because there is capacity to become a regional leader and exporter of glass that will dictate market conditions.

President of the Board of Directors of Global Glass Igor Lah said that the plan is to produce up to 1,400 tons of glass per day in the Serbian glass factory from 2028.

– I firmly believe that each state needs its own production and that the industry, such as glass making, is its foundation – he said and emphasized that it is increasingly important for locally made products to be available, in an adequate way, in the country where they are produced.

Lah reminded that the glass factory in Paracin has an interesting, varied history and that it has also known hard times, and estimated that this factory has great potential nowadays.

CEO of Steklarna Hrastnik in Slovenia and the Serbian Glass Factory Peter Cas presented the vision and the development plan for the Serbian factory in the coming period, which also entails the construction of the first national glass recycling center in Serbia.
