On December 1-2, Belgrade is hosting, for the first time, the Board of AICESIS, the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions.

Serbia, that is, its Social-Economic Council was accepted as a full member in 2018, at the session of the General Assembly which was held in Paris. The president of the Serbian Association of Employers (SAE), Milos Nenezic, was elected board member at the body’s session in 2019 in Bucharest, the SAE announced.

In addition to the session of the Board of AICESIS, the Palace of Serbia is also hosting the conference “For a Better Future in The World of Labor and Capital”. Through three panels, the speakers will analyze the topics crucial to the current moment and the future of social dialogue: the topic of social entrepreneurship, the topic of job quality and salary trends and the topic of the future of labor, work relations and lack of workforce.

– For us as a state, it is a great honor to host this kind of an international event. It shows how important the Social-Economic Council is in social dialogue, but also obligates us to give more importance in the future to the operations of the Social-Economic Council. That is the only way for us, in dialogue with all sides, to go in the direction of what is the goal of every responsible government, which is to go toward a state of well-being. Dialogue is precisely what the state promotes and wants to promote on all levels of authority – said Nikola Selakovic, the minister of labor, employment, veteran and social policy of Serbia.

Milos Nenezic, the president of the SAE and a member of the Board of AICESIS, said at the opening of the conference that, through the cooperation with AICESIS and the partner organizations, we had the opportunity to adopt the best practices and improve social dialogue, as the only way toward a sustainable economic development which took into account the interests of all three sides – the state, the trade unions and the employers.

AICESIS was founded in 1989 with the aim of promoting social dialogue, exchange of positions and examples of good practices of organizations which gather social partners. The association works in close cooperation with the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the press release says.
