A hundred new articulated buses running on compressed natural gas (methane) will be included in the traffic in Belgrade by the end of the week at the latest, announced the mayor, Aleksandar Sapic. At yesterday’s presentation of the new vehicles at the New Belgrade base of the public transport company GSP, he specified that the buses would operate the busiest and most overloaded lines 17, 23, 31, 65 and 88, Beoinfo reports.

– Thanks to the new buses, the oldest vehicles will be withdrawn from the traffic and so the average age of the rolling stock will be seven and a half years, which is within the limits of the European standards. The new buses will considerably improve the quality of our public transport and it is also important to continue renewing our rolling stock, which certainly requires considerable funds. These hundred vehicles cost around EUR 35 million – Sapic said.

As he emphasized, these vehicles will be filled like all other vehicles of this type, at the gas stations of KryoGas, and the construction of a public-private gas station at the GSP facility, which is planned for the end of March, will mean a lot for all future gas-powered vehicles.
