The European Union has set aside EUR 1 billion for the countries of the Western Balkans for overcoming the energy crisis, announced the president of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen.

The support, according to her, will help shape a common energy future.

– We are here to deepen our economic integration. Starting with energy. Our EUR 1 billion Energy Support Package for the Western Balkans will help us shape our common energy future – Von Der Leyen tweeted.

She also wrote that it was good to see all Western Balkans partners in Berlin, one week after her visit to the region.

The Berlin Process Summit was held in Berlin yesterday, hosted by the chancellor of Germany, Olaf Sholz. The leaders of the countries of the Western Balkans signed three regional agreements at the summit which will enable free movement with ID cards in the region, recognition of higher education qualifications and professional qualifications for medical doctors, dentists and architects.
