How Digitalization Helped Reconstruct 19th-Century Building into Modern Belgrade Hotel
The hotel is tucked in the very center of Belgrade, in the main pedestrian zone between Kneza Mihaila and Cika Ljubina streets. It is located in a building dating back to 19th century which is classified as an immovable cultural property of exceptional importance for Republic of Serbia. This fact presented a special challenge to the project investor, Delta Real Estate, to preserve the historic charm and spirit of Belgrade, but it was also an opportunity to apply both modern business principles this company is known for and the latest digital construction tools, including the PlanRadar application.
- Since we`re talking about a complex project, which has exclusive retail space on its lower levels and a hotel with 46 rooms in total, a fashionably designed restaurant and a modern recreation room on the upper levels, we soon saw the need to use digital tools to simultaneously track work dynamics, potential defects and coordination between contractors, said Darija Rascanin, Design and Construction Manager at Delta Real Estate.
- We are greatly honored and pleased that our application was used on the Hotel Indigo project which makes us feel at least partially responsible for the added appeal this hotel brought to Belgrade. With more than 120.000 users across 65 countries it`s safe to say we are contributing to the digitalization of the global construction industry and building a knowledge and experience base in architecture, engineering and real estate management, says Bojan Petkovic, the Country Manager for Southeast Europe at PlanRadar.
- From Belgrade hotels and business facilities, Peljesac Bridge construction and reconstruction of Vienna subway to Ibis Hotel in London, investors and contractors encounter similar problems and challenges and I hope we have been successful in solving those challenges through digitalization of communication and business operations.
Informatization and digitalization of the construction sector with innovative tools such as PlanRadar is crucial. Day-to-day management of construction projects is primarily done on site, whereas administrative and repetitive tasks can be done remotely in real time. In the past years, practice showed that digitalization of the construction process brought huge benefits to all parties involved. Construction companies profit from improved work efficiency thus saving time and money while employees value workplace flexibility, possibly enabling them to establish better work-life balance.
