A part of the bypass route around Zrenjanin opened to traffic today. It is the fourth sector of the bypass road. The opening was attended by the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, Tomislav Momirovic, who announced that the plan was for the works on the fifth sector, slightly under 4 km long and comprising the final phase of the works, to begin in the spring.

– Bypass routes are crucial to fully moving out freight traffic from the city, which also leads to reduced emissions of harmful gases, but is also a good pre-condition for the development of the industry – Momirovic said.

The minister added that he expected that, with the construction of the bypass route around Zrenjanin and the planned highway, the economy in Zrenjanin would “double”.

The total length of the bypass route around Zrenjanin is 15 km and will enable the full moving of the transit traffic from the city core, which now comes from the direction of Novi Sad, Kikinda, Secanj, Srpska Crnja and several local roads, says the ministry’s announcement.
