Since May 1 this year, when the Law on Electronic Invoicing came into force, two million electronic invoices have been issued, Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali has announced on Friday.

Mali wrote on his official Instagram profile that there are currently 10,647 users of public funds and 70,637 economic entities in the electronic invoicing system in Serbia.

- Starting May 1 this year, public sector entities are obliged to receive and store electronic invoices, and to issue such invoices to other public sector entities. The obligation of private sector entities to issue an e-invoice to the public sector entity came into effect as well - Mali wrote.

He reiterated that, as of July 1, business owners are required to receive and store electronic invoices issued by public sector entities, whereas from January 1, 2023, it will also be mandatory for the business owners to issue and store e-invoices in private sector transactions.

- The electronic invoicing system contributes to one of our main goals, namely to improve the economic environment in the Republic of Serbia and facilitate business - Mali wrote.
