Drama Series “Robin Hood” to Be Filmed in Serbia
– Serbia has positioned itself not just as a good location for shooting, but also as a reliable production partner. The incentives, along with the very competitive production prices and extremely professional and experienced teams which work on projects, make Serbia one of the best choices for filming in Europe – the announcement says.
This authentic ten-episode drama series will present the most realistic depiction of Robin Hood yet, located in the context of a cruel, corrupt and mysterious medieval country. It will present a mythical period of history, when England was covered with forests, and the old pagan beliefs were struck down by the power of the Norman sword. At this very dark and dangerous point in history, the mysterious Robin Hood and his wild outlaws were medieval avengers.
– I wanted to show the real Robin to the world, so I researched the original ballads and records about the justice system of the 12th and 13th centuries, which still exist. They reveal a far more attractive and dangerous figure of Robin, who is rough, authentic and deeply rooted in history. This version of Robin Hood will be like “Vikings” or “Peaky Blinders” – explains the show’s creator, Jonathan English.
The program will be partly financed from the Serbian incentive program, run by the Ministry of Culture of Serbia.
