The company Continental Tobacco doo Beograd is to build facilities for the production of soups, gruels and health food in Simanovci and Subotica.

As the director of this company, Marko Devrnja, said for eKapija, the investment is worth EUR 14 million.

– On a total of 15,000 m2, storage space for rent and production facilities are to be built. We are not yet sure whether to develop our own brand, which we have an idea to call On My Way, or to buy a small brand which already exists in our market, somewhat known, with which we would then continue the positioning – our interviewee says.

He points out that the production-storage space will be built in the first quarter of next year and that, in the second one, the production will begin.

– At new facilities, we will produce and package instant soups in pouch packaging and cubes using the Hungarian recipe, made from semi-products in cooperation with a Hungarian company. These will be unique products here, slightly spicier and more pungent, in line with the tradition of the Hungarian cuisine, and we are also planning noodles in jars, as a typical instant meal in the Asian cuisine. When it comes to gruels and healthy snacks, they will be made from local ingredients and packaged in takeaway boxes, and all this will be available at kiosks, gas stations, biomarkets and health food stores.

Continental Tobacco is a famous Hungarian producer of cigarettes and cigarillos, founded back in the era of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but, according to Devrnja, it doesn’t intend to start producing tobacco products in Serbia.

– The production remains in Hungary, and the idea was to distribute cigarillos here. There have been talks about entering that market in Serbia, but it is already quite crowded – says Devrnja, who adds that the Hungarian group in Serbia already distributes filters for rolled tobacco.
