Electricity Price to Increase 30% for Households and 70% for the Economy This Summer?
The price of electrical energy in Serbia for households is adjusted by EPS sending a request to the Energy Agency of Serbia (AERS) by submitting the cost list through which it justifies it. AERS then assesses whether the request made by EPS is justified or not and approves it accordingly. Considering that EPS is owned by the Serbian state, the government is the deciding factor when it comes to the kind of request that EPS submits to AERS.
If the authorities adopted the decision to have the electricity in Serbia for households be more expensive by 30%, it would be an enormous blow to the living standard and home budgets. The most recent electricity price increase for households was on February 1, 2021, when it increased 3.4%.
