World Transport Overseas (WTO), with the seat in East Europe and branch offices in Bulgaria, China, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Greece and North Macedonia, the winner of the award Company of the Year 2020 in the sector of services in Bulgaria, is one of the fastest growing logistics companies.

It has implemented numerous changes in its corporate identity, and a new strategic plan, called Vision 2030, has also been adopted, with the aim of creating their own branches in all the logistics centers in the world by the end of the decade and thereby fulfilling the clients’ demands even better.

A very important step in the implementation of the strategy is the opening of the branch in China, called World Transport Overseas China, which started working as an NVOCC operator on September 1, 2020. Also, in 2021, they opened their offices in Skopje and Thessaloniki.

We talked to Sales Manager Bogdan Gavrilovic about the innovations in business, the change of the company’s visual identity, the changes that the pandemic has brought, the opening of new offices, but also their relation to employees, as the most important success factor.

World Transport Overseas plans to open new offices?

– Continuing by the already mentioned plan Vision 2030, the decision on the expansion of the group has been adopted. To specify, by the end of the current year, we plan to open offices in Taiwan and in Ningbo, when it comes to the Asian market, and this year we have already opened offices in Pristina and Piraeus, when it comes to the Balkans, which will certainly contribute to an even higher quality of services toward our clients, as well as more competitive prices. We are especially proud of the opening of the office in the Port of Piraeus, which is the fourth biggest port in Europe and through which we will able to offer an express service to our clients, in both FCL and LCL.

What are the innovations in business?

– By opening a new direct maritime groupage line from Asia to the Balkans, more precisely, from the Port of Tianjin, our company has continued realizing its expansion strategy as one of the leaders in the market of Central and Eastern Europe and the mission to offer to clients in Serbia and the wider region the possibility of a more favorable and quicker chain of supply of goods from the Far East.

We would also like to say with pride that, with our long-standing partner JAS, we have successfully expanded the cooperation and become their exclusive agents in Thessaloniki, as well as in Skopje. This kind of a partnership relation with the world forwarder like JAS Forwarding brings numerous benefits for our company, but primarily our clients, to which we will be able to offer additional services worldwide in the future, with a better service, at even more affordable conditions.

We assume that the numbers and the reports for the previous year have been prepared and are ready to be presented?

– The total turnover of the group for the year 2021 amounted to the record EUR 53 million. When it comes to the number of transported TEUs, in both import and export, the total amount is over 40,000 TEUs. Also, we have recorded a big growth in LCL, that is, in the number of the delivered cubic meters of goods through our main reloading ports of Varna, Koper and Thessaloniki, which is 83,000 cubic meters. The main subject of our investments and the group’s focus in the previous period was air transport, which is best reflected in more than a million and a half kilograms of transported goods last year.

The relationship toward the employees is still one of the most important factors at WTO?

– It is generally known that the employees at WTO, since the opening of the office, have been constantly going through additional training and further professional development when it comes to business operations. In relation to that, the latest such training pertains to working in the previously implement program Microsoft Dynamics NAV, which we are successfully bringing to a close, while at the same time preparing the implementation of a new CRM solution.

In line with the constant growth of the business operations, WTO has a need for new good and highly educated staff throughout the year, which we also present at job fairs, which we frequently participate in.
