At the meeting between the presidents of Serbia and Russia, Aleksandar Vucic and Vladimir Putin, it was agreed for Russian companies, which otherwise reconstruct railways, to get the job of the construction of the Belgrade urban and suburban railway system, stated the deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, for TV Studio B.

– The job will be completed before the completion of the first subway line. Simultaneously with the first subway line, we will have the fully reconstructed BG Voz system, and also the first 50 trams of the total of 130 that we are buying, as well as 42.6 kilometers of new tram tracks. This way, we will be ready for making the rail subsystem dominant by 2030 – Vesic said, as reported by Beoinfo.

As he emphasized, Belgrade needs a subway, BG Voz and trams, but he also noted that “no capital city in Europe has given up on trolleys either”.
