The company Celjske Mesnine has announced that it intends to open its restaurants in Belgrade and Novi Sad by the end of next year. The negotiations about the takeover of some companies in Serbia have been put on hold due to Covid, they told the journalists from Serbia who visited the company’s facilities in Celje.

Celjske Mesnine says that it wants to realize a sales growth in the Serbian market.

The director and owner of Celjske Mesnine, which is present in Serbia with the Z’dezele brand, and the chairman of the association GIZ Mesne Industrije Slovenije, Izidor Krivec, said that he always advocated for people to buy domestic products and that, accordingly, in Serbia, locally-produced food should be first, but that, thanks to their quality and safety, Slovenian food products should be second.

He said that the goal was for the products of the Slovenian meat industry that meet the highest EU standards to be present in the market of Serbia much more than the current 4% for fresh meat and fresh meat products and 4.3% for processed meat products.

The director of Celjske Konfekcije in Serbia, Goran Miokovic, estimated that an income of EUR 2.5 million would be realized in the Serbian market in 2021 and that the prosciutto segment was the strongest in the country. He also announced that the aim was for the sales to grow 15 to 20% a year.
