Copper and Gold Mine Cukaru Peki Near Bor to Open – Employment of 1,235 Workers Expected
The planned production capacities of this mine are 3.3 million tons a year. The construction period is 2.5 years, and the life cycle of the mine is 13 years. The company currently focuses on the development of the Upper Zone of the mine, where copper and gold will be produced. The estimated amount of copper in the upper zone is 1.21 million tons, whereas the amount of gold is 76 tons.
Zijin, which also owns the former RTB Bor, has built a mine for underground exploitation with all the accompanying structures for the processing and transport of the ore and the disposal of the slag.
At the moment, Cukaru Peki is one of the richest copper and gold sites in the world, due to which, according to media reports, the company’s shares jumped 8.2% at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. A total of 1,235 workers are expected to be employed at the mine.
