The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has opened the tender for the reconstruction and extension of the Horgos border checkpoint.

According to the project prepared by Saobracajni Institut CIP doo, the expansion will enable a reduction of the traffic jams and shorten the delays during the vacations and holidays at this important border checkpoint on the E-75 traffic route.

At the entrance and the exit from the country, at cargo terminals, up to the border line, the possibility of the construction of another three lanes in each direction is envisaged.

Within the passenger-customs terminal, at the entrance to the country, the construction of two new traffic lanes for passenger vehicles and two for buses is envisaged.

At the exit from the country, the existing bus lane has been repurposed as a passenger vehicle lane, whereas two truck lanes have been repurposed as bus lanes.

The tender is open until October 26.
