“Strange and impressive”, says Edward Granville, who runs the luxury tourist company Red Savannah and visits Boka Kotorska for nearly 20 years.

– Clear mountains descend right into the deep blue sea, so it all seems like an Alpine sky – he adds.

This exciting environment is not located in Scandinavia, or even in Switzerland. It is located on the Adriatic coast and is the “star” of Montenegro, a small country the size of Connecticut, which has emerged in the past years as a new “hit” destination in the Mediterranean, according to world magazines dedicated to luxury yachts, as reported by the Standard portal.

The article further says that you can safely forget Saint-Tropez or Monaco, because Montenegro is the place where “smart” superyachts are docking this September. According to the broker Paola Scalabrino, “yachting revenues in Montenegro are comparable to those in Monte Carlo”.

Along the long coast of around 290 kilometers, there are plenty of beautiful natural ports, and the best way to see them is from the sea. The conditions also make sailing more comfortable, the article adds.

September is cited as an ideal month for light afternoon excursions in the autumn, when the winds are not too strong.

Wealthy people like Bernard Arnault from France and Oleg Deripaska from Russia spend their time at the ports Porto Montenegro, Lustica Bay and Portonovi, designed using the same model.

This is a good alternative for the docking of luxury yachts in the Adriatic Sea, since Italy increased the fee.

Flying Fox at Porto Montenegro

That Montenegro is increasingly more attractive to owners of luxury yachts is also confirmed by the announcement that the hyperluxury yacht Flying Fox, worth USD 400 million, which is connected with one of the richest people in the world, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, docked at Porto Montenegro in Tivat a couple of days ago.

According to the Mina agency, the boat was built at the Lurssen shipyard and the designer is Espen Oeino. It was made in 2019 and everything about it is luxurious. It has a cinema, a 13-meter pool, two heliports, a bar and a gym, Radio Tivat reports.

All the cabins are tastefully equipped, and the main apartments on the upper deck has its own hot-tub and sunbathing area.

Furthermore, the guests are also provided with additional maritime attractions – jet skis, hoverboards, kayaks and even a mini submarine. There’s also kite-surfing equipment and Vespa scooters.

Since it is over 140 meters long and 22.5 meters wide, the yacht can speed up to 20 knots (37 km/h), although its comfortable cruise speed is 15 knots.

It is one of the 18 biggest yachts in the world, with a capacity for 22 passengers and 55 crew members.

Annual maintenance costs around USD 15 million.
