The jump of the price of gas in the global market is the result of the low temperatures in March and April 2021, the accidents at gas storage facilities in Russia and the delays in the construction of the Nord Stream, but these circumstances will not affect the price of gas in Serbia, because there is a long-term agreement with Gazprom, said the special adviser to the deputy prime minister of Serbia and minister of mining and energy, Petar Stanojevic.

Stanojevic said on TV Prva that, due to the prolonged winter period, the European storage facilities were empty, and the accident in Russia led to reduced deliveries.

– In short, gas quantities were not sufficient and the price jumped from 220 to 580 U.S. dollars per a thousand cubic meters, but this will not affect the price of energy sources in Serbia, because there is a ten-year agreement with Gazprom, which is valid until the end of the year. The price of gas depends on the geopolitical situation, which dictates trends in the European and global markets – Stanojevic pointed out, as announced by the government.

He said that the forming of the price of gas for 2022 would depend on negotiations of Srbijagas with Gazprom, but also that the gas prices in the global market were expected to drop in October.
