Vucic: Geox Not Acting Like a Serious Company, 250 Laid Off Workers to be Employed in 10 Days

The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has stated that, in the next 10 days, 250 former workers of Geox from Vranje will get new jobs. At the same time, he added that the Italian investors had not acted like a serious company, because they only announced their leaving a month before the closing of the factory, not leaving any room for a potential new agreement with the state.

According to him, in finding jobs for the laid off workers, the priority will be the 85 married couples who used to work at Geox and they are the first ones to be employed in the upcoming days.

– I believe that we will employ 250 people in 10 days – Vucic said.

He pointed out that he understood the difficult position of the workers and that the state was making efforts for the situation to be resolved.

– We are trying to have them leave us the hall, to have them leave us the workers to help pay salaries, and everything else, but they’re not accepting anything – Vucic said.

Yesterday, the workers of Geox started a strike at the entrance to the factory complex.
